We are VERY near our hour of a mighty spiritual awakening in our faculty.

I've just come out of a prayer meeting of waiting upon God and seeking His face, and He has impressed upon me very strongly that WE ARE SO NEAR REVIVAL. With so much that's happened this year - the many people in medical/dental/nursing who have been burdened for intercession, the visions and confirmations to so many individuals on separate occasions, the daily prayer meetings before and after school and the breakthroughs in evangelism and unity amongst Christian groups, we've been relentlessly looking for a time of breakthrough and asking the Lord to reveal His purpose for the faculty to us.

To those of you who've been burdened for revival, whether you're a 1st or 5th year medical student, whether in dentistry or nursing, whether prof or doctor... whether you've been burdened only in the recent weeks, or a year ago, or even 10 years ago, God is telling us that He will answer all our prayers, that THIS IS THE HOUR for revival. The time is NOW for us to unite in fervent intercession for our faculty, to pick up our spiritual weapons, to begin to commit whole-heartedly and press on until we see breakthrough, because it is at such a time as this that we have been promised: WE WILL SEE REVIVAL IF WE PERSEVERE.

We WILL see many in our faculties turning to Christ, lives being transformed, people repenting & desperately seeing their need for God, Medical, Dentistry & Nursing faculties being changed in extraordinary ways by God's power, NUS being impacted for Jesus... even people whom you'd never have dreamt of receiving Christ into their hearts doing so.

There will be a Harvest Rally on Thursday, 25th Jan, which will be a rallying call, a sounding of the trumpet to gather ALL Christians in Medical, Dental and Nursing faculties (students, profs AND doctors), to unite as one, to seek His face and pray for our land.

Let's spread the word to all Christians in Med/Den/Nur faculties together... Let's prepare ourselves to meet up with God, keeping the Harvest Rally and our faculties in prayer.

Details of the rally:
Date: 25th Jan 2007 (Thu)
Time: 6pm sharp - 7.30pm
Venue: LT29

"Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you,
open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." -
John 4: 35

Other verses to claim / pray with:
Matthew 16: 19
Matthew 18: 18-20
John 14: 12-14
1 John 5: 14-15,
Luke 10: 18-19
John 11: 40
Ephesians 3: 20
Matthew 21: 21-22
Matthew 9: 37-38

Lord, hear our cry
Come heal our land
Breathe life into these dry and thirsty souls

Lord hear our prayer
Forgive our sin
And as we call on Your name
Would you make this a place
For Your glory to dwell

Open the blind eyes
Unlock the deaf ears
Come to Your people
As we draw near
Hear us from heaven
Touch our generation
We are Your people
Crying out in desperation

Hear us from heaven
Hear us from heaven
Hear us from heaven

this rally... is about gathering people who believe in the power of prayer, who believe in calling unto God for a work bigger than the sum of ourselves, for an outpouring of God's Spirit which God has already promised to us.
when revival tarries, it is not cos it's not time yet... but more that His people are not ready for it yet. Certainly it’s a conversational obstacle when you want to encourage someone to become a Christian. But it’s not just Christians who have a problem with it. There are even Buddhists and Hindus who object.

A Buddhist website:“’Dalai lama urges Christians not to convert to Buddhism’. (i didnt really have a choice right?) ok so i was actually quite scared because it was totally out of my comfort zone. dont get me wrong i really want others to know about Christ, but all along i didnt think i'd be the one actually doing it. i was what you could say a 'selfish Christian', just get fed and pray that others will reach out. i guess God changed my perspective during meta camp. He taught me that success in witnessing is just taking the initiative to share Christ! i used to think that if the person didnt accept, i must have said something wrong, or used to wrong method. now i am convinced that i just need to TELL people about Him and He will do the rest. though none of those i shared to accepted, i know that God in His wonderful ways, will bring more people to continue the work i did for Him and hopefully they will eventually make the decision believe in Him too. ever since meta camp ended, i feel a growing desire and need to evangelise and already with a few other youth leaders in my church we share the same burden. i want to thank God so much for showing me this through meta camp, and i pray that He will continue to use to to create movements everywhere, so that everyone will know someone who truly follows Jesus! :)"

META was fun!!! if u ever do have a chance to go again... pls do go! i tink i probly cant next year liao... ;p

my group's RAP n CRAP jingle that was never performed:
[we were supposed to come up wif a rap or JINGLE with the line:
Movements everywhere - so that every student knows someone who truly follows Jesus!]

here goes...

(sung to the tune of jingle bells)

Meta camp, Meta camp, Meta all the way...so that
every student knows someone who truly follows Jesus!
(X2)

run thru PGP
go for TED
then for Living Free
cannot watch TV!!
go for Project X
still got Rap N Crap
M-E-T-A-M-O-R-P-H-O-S-I-S
SHIOK!!!!!!

CHRISTMAS isn't Christmas til it happens in your heart..

sorry i havent been updating in a while.. intended to update at least once a week! forgot to wish u guys merry Christmas! hope everyone had a blessed Christmas, and you were able to bless at least one friend with the good news of Jesus Christ this December. how is ur progress with the GoFish card?

i've got a confession to make. i can't remember where i put my GoFish card! arghss.. i'm just soo absent-minded. but i do remember the 3 names i have written down. and they are constantly in my prayers. i'm very happy to have the privilege of seeing God working in one of my friend's life. shall call him X. i first started talking to X about God maybe one year ago, at that time he had a lot of questions about God, questions sometimes even i myself found hard to answer. X grew up in a Catholic school and his father was catholic, so he kinda knew a bit here and there about the Christian faith and about God, but he just never really believed. he was very antagonistic and had a lot of problems with the idea of God and suffering etc... i started praying for this friend, that God will change his heart towards him and that he might come to see the truth one day. i tried to share what i knew about God to him, brought him to the ravi zacharias talk "Man cannot live without God", gave him books to read (Lee Strobel's the Case for Faith), daily bread, encouraged him to read the bible and seek the truth for himself... yet at the end of the day i knew that nothing i could do would save him; only God could. so i committed it to God and told God that i had already done all i possibly could... now i had to leave the impossible to Him. and now the impossible has happened. God has somehow changed X's heart. he is reading the bible regularly now and started going to church!! there was a point in time when i really thought that all this would be mission:IMPOSSIBLE because X is just simply antagonistic at everything that i tell him. he just wouldnt listen.. but i thank God for how He answered my prayer and how He's been showing me that truly with Him, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE. all we need to do is be like Mary, have faith and believe in His promises.

have u been praying for ur frens on ur GoFish card? is there any thanksgiving u'd like to share? do drop an email to me ok? for those who have not seen any progression or opportunities to share, don't be discouraged. i believe that God is sovereign and he will honour and hear your prayers that were offered in faith. He really works in amazing ways. awesome.

this christmas, our year 1 med students blanche and eugene planned to have a carolling event to various hospitals to bring the christmas cheer to them. kudos to them for the efforts put into calling and coordinating the various hospitals (sgh, ttsh, renci and st lukes) so that we could go down. our initial plan was to use this as a platform to share the good news of Christmas to our non-Christian classmates who were interested in singing at the hospitals. but in the end a lot of them pulled out last minute. abt 8 of us met up to have practice and sang our hearts out on wed 21st dec from 9am to abt 8pm!! goodness.. that's like 11 hrs on our feet. ok la not exactly cos we had a break for lunch. it was really tiring but fun. just bringing the cheer of christmas to the patients, many of them who were suffering and alone this christmas. it was heartbreaking too, as i shook their hands and saw some weeping away. i just didn't know what to say, but just to pray in my hearts that God will be their comfort and their healer. thank you all those who came down and gave ur time and energy! it was great singing with you guys. :):)

Helping Our Friends See a Different Christmas!

this was the theme for our last LM of the year.. yeap. we played a little game involving bidding for presents which evan prepared.. point? was that we all place a value on each of the presents and decided how much we are willing to give up to bid for the presents. how much value do we place on the gift of our Lord Jesus Christ this Christmas? how much value do our friends place on Him? How do we help our friends to see a different Christmas from the "pagan" celebrations?

3 things

Curiosity - ask them questions that will pique their curiosity, e.g. why would God let His Son be born in a manger? What do u like abt Christmas? What does Christmas mean to u?

Authencity - let us be authentic friends, not a Christmas friend (i.e. we only call our friends once a year to ask them to come for some church outreach programme during Christmas) yes, Christmas is a wonderful opportunity to reach out to friends, but first we gotta be the friend who is willing to spend time wif them, not with the objective of "converting" them, but rather to just BE their friend.

Tell - many ppl advocate "lifestyle" evangelism, let our lights shine, let our lives be a testimony to the living God. yes indeed we shud, but if we do not tell them abt Jesus, who will? Romans 10:14 says "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?" so brothers and sisters, let us not just be content with living a just another "good" life, let us also share the reason behind that good life. but then again, conversely, if ur lifestyle is not really showing wat u preach, then dun! God knows how many ppl have renounced the faith simply bcos they have seen much more hypocrites in the Christian church than elsewhere.. ;p

well... Merry Christmas in advance! will u use this opportunity to share the good news wif the ppl on ur GoFish card? start praying and looking out for a divine opportunity now! :)

LM is here!!! thurs 8th dec 2005 5.30pm @ M10

itz been a while since we last met! hasnt it? ever since FLUNCH (ok that was not too long ago, but that was when all the lower Ms were busy with their CAs!!) so how has everyone been? hope that u have not forgotten to or stopped prayin for the friends whom you've written on your GoFish card (ps: if u still havent got yours yet, what the!!!!!! pls repent.. haha. kiddin la huh.)

i guess i'm guilty for not updating this blog as often as i would have liked.. i will try at least once a week ok? itz cos nobody seems to have any testimony, thanksgiving, things to share. and sometimes i wonder if anyone even comes here to read anymore. but still i will persevere... even for the one person who comes to read this blog, i will continue. thanx for dropping by! :)

november was supposed to be HarvestMonth.. remember i sent out the email? yeah i said "supposed" to be cos it was erm... half successful. a lot of the lower Ms were too stressed out over their CAs that we werent able to go thru wif the training, let alone going out to blitz. we did however manage to go out wif a couple of dgls as well as the M3 gals.

it was a good time of revisiting the 4SLs, and God really placed in my heart the importance of bringing the gospel to the lost. there are many out there who are searching, who are just that close to coming to Christ but just never really heard how. then there are those who need to hear the gospel presented more than just a few times before they are actually convicted to faith. my point is, if we dun tell them, who will? blessed are the feet of those who bring good news.. we always say we want to share Christ with our friends thru our life, our actions... but how many of us actually actively share with them the full gospel, how they can receive Christ etc? if u do, good for u! but i must admit there are many times tt i just avoid it if i can.. i also learnt the importance of sharing in love. being discerning when to share the 4SLs and when it is enuff to just provoke thoughts of God in the person's mind.

anyway i ramble too much.. COME for this thursday's LM! the dentals will be sharing on their trip to yunnan which they just came back from this week, and we will be talking more abt how we can help our friends to see a different Christmas! a different Christmas? isnt Christmas just Christmas? i guess the point is that often times we are so desensitised to the story of baby Jesus in a manger cos of commercialisation and all that we kinda forgot the true meaning behind it... the importance n the implications behind the birth of our Lord AND SAVIOUR! yes. can we help our friends to see that he is our SAVIOUR? he came not just for the Jews, but for the whole world! yup so do come along for this last LM of the year n dun miss out! :):)

FLUNCH!!!

 IMG_1363
Originally uploaded by krys.
we had flunch last week 24th nov.. for the uninitiated, flunch stands for fellowship lunch. :):) we prayed for some of the year ones who were getting pretty stressed over their CAs which start tmr... and celebrated Christelle's bday!!! haPPiE birThDaY gal! :)

Multiplication...

Assume for the next few minutes that the population of the world is almost 5 billion (it is) and that you are the only Christian on earth (you aren’t). If you led one other person to the Lord during the next 12 months, and the two of you led two other people to the Lord the following year, etc., how many years would it take (statistically, at least) before everyone in the world would be a Christian?

The startling fact of multiplication is this: If everyone approached the Great Commission with the attitude, “Each one win one,” the task might well be completed in about 32 years!

Jesus sent out His disciples 2-by-2 but the job of spreading the gospel occurred 1-by-1: one individual with Christ sharing the good news with one individual without Christ. Does that help you see how important one witness – your witness – can be in accomplishing the goal? Write down the names of 3 unsaved friends in your GoFish card (if you haven’t already!), and make them the focus of your praying… and sharing! We want to have significant conversations about God and life and occasionally they happen, but not as often as we’d like. Now it may be that others aren’t interested in talking. But that is rarer than you think. According to national research, the chances are that four out of five of your classmates are open to talk about spiritual things.
So what keeps it from happening? It might be we are too busy or too afraid. Or maybe we just don’t know how to bring it up—how to break through the awkward “sound barrier” between ordinary interactions (school, sports, etc.) and spiritual conversations.

Here is a key word to help you breakthrough—“SOMETIME”. In a simple statement, it can test for spiritual openness. Here’s how. Simply say, “Sometime I’d love to hear what you think about spiritual things.” You have stated a simple and honest desire (you would like to know, wouldn’t you?), but “sometime” takes the pressure off the moment. You are not saying you want to talk now, just sometime. That gives them freedom to express (verbally or non-verbally) how open they are to talking. And experience shows, most students are very willing in a comfortable setting.

So let’s do a faith-experiment:
Pray that God will give many significant spiritual conversations in the weeks ahead.
Then step out in faith and let others know your desire—“SOMETIME”—especially those who are on your GO Fish! Card.
Pay attention to those who respond positively and begin to set up times for coffee and conversation (or coke, if you prefer.)
Oh, when you get together, what will you talk about?
Check out http://student2student.campuscrusadeforchrist.com/Tools.html

Wat is Student2student?
it's a one of the websites by US campus crusade campus ministry to help u reach ur frens...
Check out http://student2student.campuscrusadeforchrist.com

your EXCLUSIVE card - gofish

gofish
Originally uploaded by krys.
this is the prayer card i was talking about... it comes in various colours - white, blue, purple, grey, yellow! come get yours from me or evan today! :):)

GoFish!

27th october was our monthly LM and it was at one of the dental classrooms. was really encouraged by sam (M1) who was leading worship. especially the song PEOPLE NEED THE LORD really spoke of the urgency of sharing the gospel, in line with our theme of evangelism for this LM. :):)

Serene (D4) shared her testimony about how she came to Christ... here are some excerpts from her testimony:

"I was aware of the Christian faith way before, when I was in Secondary school. My four years of secondary school was spent at CHIJ Secondary (TP), where I was exposed to the different practices of the catholic faith....When I befriended my best friend in secondary school, who was a Christian, she introduced me to the Christian faith.......I was living with the knowledge about Jesus Christ but I was not prepared to declare my faith or change my lifestyle. When I entered Dentistry several years later, I recall Elaine approaching me to ask about my religion in the student lounge. When I told her about my past experience with Christianity, she asked me if I knew what the 4 spiritual laws were about......At that moment, I wasn’t sure of how I got the conviction, but I actually agreed to say the Sinner’s Prayer together with Elaine. I guess it was a leap of faith to find out for myself who God is......I realized that it is important to have Christians take initiative.....Who knows, the next person we reach out to may be able to find eternal life."

Amen to that! we don't know when or where God is going to call someone to Himself, but if we allow ourselves to be used by Him wherever we are, He will bring us to places we never expected ourselves to be.

after Serene, Feng Yi (M5) shared about his experiences sharing Christ to patients as well as his thoughts on evangelism..
as with all things medical, we start with the ABCs:

Assess the patient (this requires spiritual discernment - to know when and where is the right time/person to share with),
Bring the good news (our job is just to share the gospel, don't worry yourself with other stuff!!),
Christ will do the rest (we sow the seed, God is the one who grows it! doesn't matter if we dun get to do followup with the patient or even if he/she does not say the sinner's prayer... our job is to share Christ!)

he said some pretty good slogans which i thought was really great. FY, you shud be on E-comm! haha.
"Medicine can't cure, only Jesus can."

Evan showed us two clips from the movie Titanic... the part where the ppl were drowning, and the ppl in the boats refused to turn back cos they were afraid that their lifeboat would capsize if they tried to go back. at the end, when they finally went back, there was no more struggling, cos all the ppl were dead. "it's too late. we waited too long." said the guy.

do we picture ourselves saying that with our friends, relatives, acquaintances who never heard of Jesus?

friends, we have a lifeboat that cannot be capsized, yet are we going back to save those who are going into eternity without Christ?? are we going to wait til it's too late?

i introduced our prayer card: GoFish. (based on Matthew 4:19)
PS: if u dun have one, pls get from me (ask evan)!!!! i have plenty! haha.

at Crusade one of our 4 major distinctives is initiative evangelism. not just winning ppl to Christ, but really intentionally praying for the ppl whom God has placed in our lives, that we may take the initiative to grab or even create opportunities to share with these ppl.

this prayer card is pocket sized so that we can carry it around in our wallets, as a reminder to ourselves to continually pray for 3 non-Christian friends whom God has brought across our paths. rather than wait passively for a chance to share, why not start praying for them, and for God to open the door for spiritual conversations?

we also prayed thru 6 questions we hope God can plant in these friends' hearts, so that they may be prepared for the gospel:

1. Whom can I trust?
Ask God to plant in the hearts of lost people a skepticism about the lies they hear, whether philosophical, social, or political. Soon they will discover it is not possible to trust anybody other than someone who is absolutely perfect. Eventually this search will direct their thoughts to God.

2. What is my reason for being?
Ask God to plant in their hearts an urgency concerning this question. This will cause a reevaluation of their reason for being and lead them to consider a purpose not found at a human level.

3. when will I really be free?
Need to recognize they are not really free from sin, pain and suffering. Pray they will feel an emptiness that can be satisfied only by receiving Christ into their lives. Pray that the person will ask, "When will I be free from this emptiness in my heart?"

4. why do I reject God?
Some do not recognize His existence, some are indifferent, some have trouble acknowledging Him (having some issues with the idea of the existence of God). Ask God to cause lost souls to question the reality of God and why they reject Him or not acknowledge God. Pray that they will examine their views on God and seek for answers to who God is.

5. How can I cope with my problems?
Ask God to show how flimsy the things they put their hope in; that they see their hopelessness. Our intercession is for them to see their problems beyond their abilities and realize their need for deliverance and thus prepare their hearts for the day the Gospel will be given to them.

6. where will I go when I die?
The reality of death is understood in every culture. Everyone wonders about death at some point in life. Pray that God will turn these questions into a quest for an eternal answer, that He will plant a longing to resolve this issue.

Praying these prayer interrogatives does not force salvation upon an individual, but rather prepares his or her heart for the Gospel.

May this be a start of a renewed fire and vision for sharing the gospel with our friends.
May we not grow weary in sowing the seeds. Those who sow abundantly will also reap abundantly.
God has called each and every single one of us, not just a selected few who "have the gift".
Have you responded to His call?

A Parable of Fishless Fishermen

by John M. Drescher

Now it came to pass that a group existed who called themselves fishermen. And lo, there were many fish in the waters all around. In fact, the whole area was surrounded by streams and lakes filled with fish, and the fish were hungry.

Week after week, month after month, and year after year these who called themselves fishermen met in meetings and talked about their call to fish, the abundance of fish, and how they might go about fishing. Year after year they carefully defined what fishing means, defended what fishing as an occupation, and declared that fishing is always to be a primary task of a fisher.

Continually they searched for new and better methods of fishing and for new and better definitions of fishing. Further they said, “The fishing industry exists by fishing as fire exists by burning.” They loved slogans such as “Fishing is the task of every fisherman,” and “Every fisherman is a fisher,” and A fishermen’s outpost for every fisherman’s club.” They sponsored special meetings called “Fishermen’s Campaigns” and “The Month for Fishermen to Fish.” They sponsored costly nationwide and worldwide congresses to discuss fishing to promote fishing and hear about all the ways of fishing such as the new fishing equipment, fish calls, and whether any new bait was discovered.

These fishermen built large, beautiful buildings called “Fishing Headquarters.” The plea was that everyone should be a fisherman and every fisherman should fish. One thing they didn’t do, however – they didn’t fish. In addition to meeting regularly, they organized a board to send out fishermen to other places where there are many fish. All the fishermen seemed to agree that what is needed is a board which could challenge fishermen to be faithful in fishing. The board was formed by those who had the great vision and courage to speak about fishing, to define fishing, and to promote the idea of fishing, and to promote the idea of fishing in faraway streams and lakes where many other fish of different colours lived.

Also the board hired staffs and appointed committees and held many meeting to define fishing, to defend fishing, and to decide what new streams should be thought about. But the staff and committee members did not fish. Large, elaborate, and expensive training centres were built whose original and primary prupose was to teach fishermen how to fish. Over the years courses were offered on the needs of fish, the psychological reactions of fish, and how to approach and feed fish. Those who taught had doctorates in fishology. But the teachers did not fish. They only taught fishing.

Year after year, after tedious training, many were graduated and were given fishing licenses. They were sent to do full-time fishing, some to distant waters that were filled with fish.

Some spent much study and travel to learnt the history of fishing and to see faraway places where the founding fathers did great fishing in the centuries past. They lauded the faithful fishermen of years before who handed down the idea of fishing.

Further the fishermen built large printing houses to publish fishing guides. Presses were kept busy day and night to produce materials solely devoted to fishing methods, equipment, and programs to arrange and to encourage meetings to talk about fishing. A speakers’ bureau was also provided to schedule special speakers on the subject of fishing.

Many who felt the call to be fishermen responded. They were commissioned and sent to fish. But like fishermen back home they never fished. Like the fishermen back home they engaged in all kinds of other occupations. They built power plants to pump water for fish and tractors to plow new waterways. They made all kinds of equipment to travel here and there to look at fish hatcheries/ some also said they wanted to be part of the fishing party, but they felt called to furnish fishing equipment.

Others felt their job was to relate to the fish in a good way so the fish would know the difference between good and bad fishermen. Others felt that simply letting the fish know they were nice, land-loving neighbours and how loving and kind they were was enough.

After one stirring meeting on “The Necessity for Fishing,” one young fellow left the meeting and went fishing. The next day he reported he had caught two outstanding fish. He was honoured for his excellent catch and scheduled to visit all the big meetings possible to tell how he did it. so he quit his fishing in order to have time to tell about the experience to the other fishermen. He was also placed on the Fishermen’s General Board as a person having considerable experience.

Now it’s true that many of the fishermen sacrificed and put up with all kinds of difficulties, some lived near the water and bore the smell of dead fish everyday. They received the ridicule of some who made fun of their fishermen’s clubs and the fact that they claimed to be fishermen yet never fished. They wondered about those who felt it was of little use to attend the weekly meetings to talk about fishing. After all, were they not following the Master who said, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men?”

Imagine how hurt some were when one day a person suggested that those who didn’t catch fish were not really fishermen, no matter how much they claimed to be. Yet it did sound correct. Is a person a fisherman if year after year he never catches a fish? Is one following if he isn’t fishing?
